depends on the CD.

For years the standard was 74 Minutes (of audio) which equals 650 MB. A few of those MB are used for the header/formatting.

Now it's common to see 80 minute/700 MB discs in the store.

Standard CDRs are 650MB (=74 minutes of audio). You can also easily find/ use 700MB discs (=80 mins audio). Of course, there are those "mini" CDs which hold like 40MB, but I don't know if they're compatible with standard CDR drives (I assume they would be though...).

I confirm that they are. you can buy them by the spindle now. Neat, but practically useless. It's a trend that is dying fast, most pressing co's won't even invest in the equipment to burn the tiny CDs. Of course if you have a slot-loader, you can't use them anyway.

No they are not, I think a company has made a mp3 player and it uses those mini CD's.

mini-CD-R's are great for giving out as your digital portfolio! They fit nicely into a folder or brocure of your work.

Cool stuff and worked fine with my external firewire burner od old but did hear that they WON'T work with a slot loading computer (iMac, Cube).

Has anyone burned a mini-CD in their new iBook CD-RW?
