Running a PB 1.5GHz put in 1GB of ram 2 weeks ago on top of 512GB so now running with 1.5GB.

The new RAM made a big difference but just yesterday it's running 690.25 MB of inactive memory and I only have two apps open Safari & Activity monitor. For the last 2 weeks otherwise inactive memory has been fairly low comparatively.

I don't really understand wired and inactive memory.

Is there anything I should be doing........also if anyone cares to enlighten me as to the meaning/significance of wired and inactive memory that would eb helpful. Thanks

Could be Safari's memory leak. Empty cache, quit Safari and see what it does.

Ran Disk Utility and mac janitor and reclaimed over 500MB of free memory.....so found my own solution.

Still curious as to what hogged the inactive memory and what it means - so will help if anyone cares to throw light on that.........I suppose I could search....
