Anybody know when Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard will deploy on Macbook or MackbookPro?
I heard my fren said the spec will change during Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard upgrade.

Leopard is coming in October. I imagine that, as of release day, every Mac (not just the Books) will come with it preinstalled.

Apple - Mac OS X Leopard
As for any announcement link regarding its installation on laptops -- that's just the way Apple rolls. When Leopard is shipping, Macs will come with it installed instead of 10.4.

I wish Apple would hurry up and announce the exact date, I'm getting nervous that they haven't. Also didn't they do a sort of rebate thing where if you bought a Mac (with Panther?) after they announced the date for Tiger, you got a coupon for Tiger? I'd love them to do that so I could get my iMac sooner!

When I bought my G4 a few weeks before Jaguar was released, I got a discount on it. Only had to shell out ~$20, if memory serves.

Tiger's release date was announced on April 13th, I believe. It came out April 29th, 2005. If you bought a Mac between April 13th and the 29th, you could pay $20 Shipping and handling to get Tiger for free.

Well, since you're new to the mac (note the lowercase letters) world, your first lesson is probably to learn the proper lingo.
Mac=the computer line in general
OS X=the operating system
.mac=apple's web hosting, email, etc service
MAC=improper capitalization, or media access control.

As for sites, I look at macintouch.com, xlr8yourmac.com and macfixit.com every day, and for rumor fun, appleinsider.com and thinksecret.com. Macworld's website often has some good stuff. For forums, I usually just browse here since there's always a good mix of useful information and lively (if sometimes too lively) conversation.

Also, a very good website to go to if you're new to os x is Best Mac Software.com - The Best Software for Mac OS X. It has all the stuff you'll need to quickly adapt, like what to use for what purposes. Most are free, some cost money but there's usually an alternative or it isn't that important.
