i tried to use an external monitor (a TV) with my Powerbook, and now whenever i move my mouse to the left, it gets "lost" on the "other screen" even when it's disconnected

I'm assuming you used some sort of adaptor to hook the tv up to the 'book (s-video to composite, or VGA to composite, or something like that). If you leave the adaptor connected even though the tv is disconnected from it that would explain your computer's behavior. If this is the case, just removing the adaptor will solve both problems (the lost mouse and the resolution in the control strip).

If that's not the case it could be a problem with you video card, other than that I'm not really sure. Hope this helps.
