Ever since I saw Joseph Gordon Levitt recreate (when he hosted SNL) the incredibly difficult 'Make 'Em Laugh' dance number originally performed by Donald O'Connor in "Singin in the Rain" I have been an admirer of his.

Those who are old enough will remember JGL as the teen boy alien in 'Third Rock From The Sun.'

He's going to be in a film coming out in a few weeks (late September 2012) called, "Looper." It looks like it will be a good movie. The premise is interesting.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1276104/

In 2072, when the mob wants to get rid of someone, the target is sent 30 years into the past, where a hired gun awaits. Someone like Joe, who one day learns the mob wants to 'close the loop' by transporting back Joe's future self.
JGL plays Joe.

I'm a fan. I was a little tyke when it was on but I liked 3rd Rock back in the day. I liked him in Inception. I'm a bit iffy on how I felt about him in Dark Knight Rises...I need to see the movie again. Heck, I even liked him in 10 Things I Hate About You, lol (strange little Joker/Robin coincidence there).

I'm putting his name on a list of actors whose works I want to see more of.

He was pretty good in Inception. He grew up well, beyond the sitcommy stuff he could have been stuck with.

He was Cobra Commander, but he inspired no fear or animosity.

Inception is one of my favorite films. I've seen it so many times and I swear there is a new detail every time...

50/50

---

Looper already was shown here last week, at the Toronto International Film Festival. It's getting pretty good reviews.

Check out Brick, from a number of years back. Good movie and he was great in it. I believe it's what really catapulted him into the subtle stardom that he's been enjoying the last few years.

Also, Hesher. Totally underrated (didn't even see it, myself, until it was airing on Movie Central a couple months ago) flick that's he's great in as well.

I'm a fan. He's definitely shown himself to be a quality character actor. He's no Michael Shannon mind you (who absolutely stole every scene in Premium Rush), but I get the sense that he's still growing into his craft and within a decade could possibly be in the conversation about the great actors of his generation.

He was very good last nite on SNL. Clips of that appearance may be forthcoming here.
