Hi

Speaking only about GPS and usability...
Garmin Colorado/Oregon or iPhone?

iPhone pros: provides SDK
Garmin pros: dedicated GPS device

I suppose the GPS chips inside have similar specifications on both devices

Anyone in the same dilema?

Thank you and best Regards

PD:
iPhone: Infineon PMB2525 Hammerhead II
Garmin: some SiRFstarIII?

I think it depends on what Garmin and/or TomTom have to offer as far as GPS apps for the iPhone.

Both devices (Garmin/iPhone) have exactly the same GPS capabilities?

I want a Turn by Turn GPS app because of one reason...to put on m motorcycle. I was going to buy a dedicated GPS and have my iPhone also mounted on my bike and now i can use both devices integrated into one device (iPhone) with a bluetooth helmet communicator which works with the iPhone. Now I just will have to purchase the GPS software, which I expect to be $50 to $100. But its still cheaper than a dedicated GPS and all the wiring i would have to do to my bike. LETS GO TomTom and Garmin!!! get with it!!!

I need it to go hiking and despite the barometer and the water resistant future (could be possible to have them on iPhone) I don't see any other component missing on iPhone
