Just thought I'd have a little thought-experiment with everyone here. What would you like to see on the next iMac? Here's my list:

1) Option for 2 hard drives in the 24" iMac. There's certainly room!
2) eSATA port
3) DVI-In, to use built-in display as an external display for another device. Heck, even just an HDMI input, to put that nice 24" display to its fullest use.

What's your iMac feature wish-list look like?

I'd like a better graphics card option for mine (ie upgradable MX-style graphics card with a supported upgrade path).

Aside from that, I'm pretty happy with my iMac 2.0 C1D.

higher RAM limit.... 4 GB would be nice, maybe 8 Gb.. although price would go up.
Higher end graphics for sure. Ability to channge more than just RAM ( way more future proof).

More RAM slots. I'm at 1.5 gigs, and I rarely end up processor bound, it's VM thrashing that causes me pain. Once the iMac starts paging out, might as well restart it.

It seems about guaranteed to do this if I use iPhoto and EyeTV simultaneously.

I'd like it to stay the exact same so I don't have to upgrade again next year

I'd like to see a move to 2.5" drives once the capacities catch up to the 3.5" equivalents.

^^^ Noooo!

(Performance differences are still too great, and the 3.5" thrashes too much as it is with 1.5GB of RAM.)

Yeah, like tailstoo, I could go for a composite video in like the old all in one g3 macs, for videogame consoles and VCRs.

The second harddrive thing is kind of pointless. They make single drives up to 750GB now and if you need more than that you can use an external drive. eSATA would be nice as well as two more memory slots for up to 8GB. The Xeon would be impossible because of the cooling. They currently use the mobile version of the desktop Core technology (Conroe) for the cooling reason. I think the cardbus idea would be great.

I kinda like the "chin", and don't really mind the size of the rest of the bezel on my 20" G5, though I suppose I'd like it fine if it were reduced by about half. But I don't think it needs to drop down to 0.1". On the other hand, I might change my mind if I were to put a second monitor next to mine.

IMHO, the only change it really needs is for the HD and optical drive to be easily upgradeable again, like the first two G5 models..

I don't think 2 internal hard drives is pointless at all. First, creating a software RAID with 2 drives gives you a very nice speed boost. Second, you can't install Windows on an external drive, so if you'd prefer to leave your disks unpartitioned, you can't really take advantage of Boot Camp with a single internal drive.
