Well, I went sniffing around the DVD that came with my PB superdrive, and on it is an icon set for DVD-RAM discs.

To find it yourself, do a finder search on the DVD Restore disc with DVD as the file name, and then add the criteria of Visibility is "off"

Actually, there's a lot of stuff on there worth seeing, but that caught my eye as I scrolle dthrough the thousands of files...

My only question is, was there finder support of DVD-RAM for other drives (ie external) before?

OS X already supports DVD-RAM natively. When I load a DVD-RAM disc with my Firewire drive, up pops a DVD-RAM disc icon. (This is with my iBook.)
