I assume other devices work OK on your wireless network?

What sort of network is it? WPA, WEP, 802.1X, etc.

That has happened to me a couple of times. I just try these three steps, in order.
1) Turn off Wi-Fi, turn it back on, and reconnect to the network.
2) If that doesn't work, turn the touch off (hold the sleep/wake button until the red "slide to turn off" slider appears). Then press the sleep/wake button or the home button to turn it on again.
3) If that doesn't work, reset the touch with Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings.
It usually works alright after just the first step, and I've only had to reset it once.
Hope that solves your problem!

Funny, I noticed that the one I was playing with in the Apple store was doing the same thing yesterday...

Are you sure your home network doesn't have MAC address filtering turned on? That's typically the behaviour: it will allow you to connect to the network, but any IP request will be ignored.
