I have a 32MB GeForce 2MX AGP card in my 733 G4. For dual monitors, am I better getting a seperate card (such as a 32MB Radeon 7000 to go in a PCI slot) or upgrading the GeForce 2MX with a newer AGP card (such as a 64MB Radeon 8500) that provides dual monitor support?

Am I likely to see much of a difference? One concern is that I believe Quartz Extreme requires an AGP card... How does OSX handle one AGP and one PCI? Furthermore, is it ok to mix Nvidia and ATI cards?

Apparently, you can hack OSX to enable quartz extreme on a PCI video card, but there are some drawbacks. It sucks your PCI bandwidth when QE effects are being used, slowing down everything other than video. Your best bet is probably to get a new AGP card that supports dual monitors
