Back up some 25down/3.5up

Still above average for my ISP. This exercise doesn't seem to have helped too much, though....

Resolution is different from overall bandwidth. If your bandwidth is what you're paying for or close to it, then you should input the OpenDNS servers into your MBP again and see if it helps.

I'll try it again and see what happens - it didn't do anything before. Why would my daughter's MB resolve pages sooooo much faster?

Just to be clear, when you entered the OpenDNS server addresses, you DID also click "OK" and then "Apply," right? Gotta do both or the change doesn't happen.

It wouldn't hurt to log out and back in again, either. It's not "supposed" to make a difference, but...

Yup, I have done both to no avail. In fact, I am directly connected via ethernet now and even it doesn't help. Clearly, there is something going on with my MBP. Geese.

How comfortable would you be with an archive & install? That would restore the OS settings to what "should" work appropriately without losing you your users and apps. This is indeed an "extreme measure," but it sounds like that's appropriate.

Maybe it's been my browser???>>???!!?? I have been using Firefox 3.5.7 and last night I tried out Google Chrome just for the heck of it and .... boom..... page resolution seems to be lightning fast. Hmmm...

if you think it's firefox, try Safari. This will give you another point of comparison with Chrome.

Also you can try resetting firefox or starting in safe mode. Resetting preferences

If that doesn't work for firefox, but Safari and Chrome seem fine, then I would delete the Firefox application and your FF profile, cache, app support and preferences. Export your FF bookmarks though if you care about them. Relevant FF files or folders are in ~/Library/Caches; ~/Library/Application Support; and ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist.
