Importantly, the iPod doesn't support WMA files - now a major failing for PC users.

Hello? That's one of the reasons for listing it low? What do you expect from a site called pcpro.

Falling behind in what? sales?
Obviously not sales? Maybe features?
After all it's basically still the original ipod with more storage and a bit more software. If it stays like this then yes, sales.

Well if your a PC user, yes that is one of the reasons - other reasons you forget to mention are poor battery life, optical audio line in/out, radio, built in microphone, price - Hello?

Don't get me wrong I love the ipod it's the best looking & has the best software, I will be purchasing one within the month but I do hope it is a 4g version with some of these issues ironed out.
If not I will have take my blinkers to the shop when buying

It ain't about the features, it never has been. Otherwise go get yourself one of them ones that play video and slice through a can.

It's about the overall experience, the design. Plus, ipods still have all the cachet - you see em everywhere, just ask my man 50 Cent.

And since I'm on a mac, there're the best fw drive/ portable music player out there. If someone wants to make a better one for me and my mac, go ahead.

It's a European site? Hello? They hate things made in the US. Notice that they like to really push the small crappy players that are all form over function and have tiny bits of storage? The only player in that list I'd actually buy instead of an ipod is the iriver 100. The others are just overpriced or crap.
