Covers that are somehow off. Perhaps in poor taste or silly or somehow cringeworthy.
Yet they were published.
I came across this cover and somehow it made me cringe. Naturally that means I just have to share it with other people in the hope of spreading some cringe today..
"Annie was too distracted by a shiny object to notice the brain-eating zombie behind her."

Demi looked radiant (just about every healthy, pregnant woman does). I have never understood our American problem with seeing women who are pregnant as beautiful. But John and Yoko... that was just sort of what you expected from them at that time. Not "uncontroversial" but not unexpected, either.

The cover-picture-that-was-not-right winner would have to be Scorpions' album cover for "Virgin Killer"...the ultimate in poor taste (and borderline illegality).
I'm not gonna post it here. Google if you want to see it.

Oh yeah..... Disturbing is another word for that particular Scorpions album cover. Not disturbing like their "Blackout" cover, not at all!

Led Zeppelin’s Houses Of The Holy album is another
Blind Faith's self titled album tops "Virgin Killers"
The release of the album provoked controversy because the cover featured a topless pubescent girl, holding in her hands sculpture of a fantastic airplane, which some perceived as phallic. The U.S. record company issued it with an alternate cover which showed a photograph of the band on the front.

Original "Animal Magnestism" by the Scorpions? You need both front and back cover for full effect.

From the Back Cover:
Bud Robinson, an ill-prepared preacher who came from a depraved background, carved a lasting niche in lives of thousands during his sixty-two years of ministry. Partly because of a speech impediment and partly because he was uneducated, his style was simple and his syntax confusing. This was not a major barrier, for he found he could interpret his feeling in unadorned language.
If this one didn't go gold, I'll be damned.

^ This is not the "classic record covers" thread, this is the "record covers gone WRONG" thread.
^^ I actually really like that Eulenspygel cover. It's nasty, but it hits the mark, alright.

There's already been covers mentioned with pubescent naked girls on them.
It might be "wrong" to some, but I agree that the cover is simply classic, especially so in retrospect. In fact, that might be one of the "best-fitting" album covers ever.

Or are you seriously equating the Scorpions' "Virgin Killers" album cover with "Abraxas" or something like the Lemonbabies' "Porno" album cover?
(the album doesn't *nearly* live up to the cover, which I think is great)
