Mine is still open. I ordered mine on Monday the 19th. I did order rather late in the day, so I guess you could call it Tuesday. We'll see if I get a notice tomorrow.

I chose the "expedited" shipping option. I wonder if those were processed before the others.

I ordered mine on Monday at about 5-6pm central. So around the evening. I was hoping it would ship today or tomorrow, but doesn't look like it.

Also, I purchased this through my student developer account, and i was wondering if this will add to any possible time delays. I know sometimes EDU ones get pushed or rushed.. at least that's how their service center is.

Anwyay I can't wait for it to come in. I'm sure glad I sold my iBook a month ago.

Oh and here's specs :

1.5ghz, 512mb ram (2 stick)
4x superdrive model
80gb HD w/5400rpm
128mb VRAM

Total price? $2278
Definitely can't be this deal for a top of the line Powerbook on the day it was announced.

17" 128MB VRAM, 5400rpm drive, 1GB single SO-DIMM, ordered 7:00am 4/19. Shipped 4/23. Nothing shows on the Fedex tracking yet so it's probably just sitting on a shipping dock somewhere. Could arrive anywhere between Monday and Wednesday. Once shipments clear customs in Alaska it's easy to get an accurate delivery date, but it's just a guess until then.

Whoo hoo!
I've gone with the low-end models until now. I'll be switching from a Ti867, so I'm looking forward to this one. Why the 17? I want the extra screen real estate, and a 15" would be just too similar to what I have now to justify a new machine. The price drop was just enough to kick me over the edge. I've been lusting after a 17 since they debuted. Now that a rev C is USD 500 less than the rev A was, I'll bite.

I splurged on the VRAM and HD, but the price differential was miniscule. I'll want more RAM, but that will have to wait until 1GB modules come down a bit. Well, I might grab a 512 for $100. At worst, I'll have an extra one if I ever buy a 1GB module. That'll still be 256MB more than I have now.

Hmm... Let's see, how do I put this?
Oh, yes.

Anyone whose shipment is with TNT Express (Europe) - any idea how to track the item? The shipping track number from apple is not recognised by the TNT website.

Just ordered mine this a.m. (top end 15", 128MB VRAM, 5200rpm 80GB drive, single 512MB chip, and a 15" incase sleeve laptop bag) and the expected shipping date at the moment is on or before 7th May However, I get an excellent discount (1650.50 versus 1911.04) via the Higher Ed online store, so I'm not complaining (and, at least it won't arrive while I'm away for the May Day holiday weekend ).

I'm pleased as punch - my first ever Mac purchase and I'm hoping a big performance boost over my current work machine.

I ordered on the 19th with the same config as mnemons, but I still haven't received a shipment notification!! I chose the faster 2-3 Fedex shipping for $12 more.

Owell.. I hope it ships out today, so I can receive it by next week.

Sorry to hear that.
I guess Apple Co. might know that my 10-yr-old PowerBook should be put into sleep ASAP, although my PowerMac G4 400Ghz is still working fine.

PS: I choose free ground service.
BTW, are there any solutions to connect my Apple 17" ADC CRT monitor with PowerBook? I know the ADC-DVI adpater only works with flatpanel screens.

Update...just had this on my Fedex tracking:

Arrived at Sort Facility/ANCHORAGE AK 04/23/2004 12:36

...ordered Tuesday morning, and it is now in Alaska! It states estimated arrival date is on Tuesday. One week from order to arrival (if their estimate is correct)... that's not bad!

Cheers,

James

Also, for those waiting for 17", it is the Apple press release that states that the 17" will be delayed until May:

http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2004/apr/19pb.html

The quote is:

Pricing & Availability
The new 12- and 15-inch PowerBook G4 models are available immediately, and the new 17-inch PowerBook G4 is expected to be available in early May through The Apple Store (www.apple.com), at Apples retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers.

My 15" BTO with 1 512 dimm, 128vram and 5400 hd was ordered on Monday April 19 at 5:42 PST. I live in Boston, but my order was delayed because I decided to go the the Apple Store in Chestnut Hill to see which of the upgraded books might be in stock. With no 15's or 17's, I decided to go the upgraded bto route. My order is still OPEN with a ship on or before 4/27. I really hope that I receive my order before next weekend.

My new size 11 sleeve from Waterfield Design (to be used with my small cozmo bag previously used with my 12" ibook has already arrived. The 1gb samsung memory upgrade I ordered from 1800memorytogo should arrive today or Monday.

This is the first time I have tried a BTO from Apple. I have previously purchased two ti-books and my ibook at either CompUsa or the Apple Store because I am an instant gratification-type!

Apple, I am ready, willing and able. Please charge my account and send sooner than 4/27.

128MB VRAM guys and gals, please run Unreal 2003 benchmarks and allocate all the VRAM in the ini file to check the difference in performance between 64MBs and 128MBs.
