I have some issues with GMail accounts that I access from a variety of devices using different email client apps. I can read, forward and/or delete a particular item on one computer, but it isn’t necessarily read, forwarded, and/or deleted when I look at that account with another email client (on a different machine). This is in spite of having GMail (through the web interface) set for IMAP.
So first off, do I have things set up wrong at the moment? Is my issue with non-IMAP behavior because I did something wrong when I set up my clients? I’m primarily using Mail for MacOS and Mail for iOS/iPadOS. I do use Google’s iOS/iPadOS app for GMail on both my phone and my iPad, which helps me keep my multiple email accounts straight.

Never had this problem. The only thing is I use Mail for my gmail accounts. There is sync lag, but it does always end up working.
No settings or preferences thing to change I can see.

I’m going to see if I can make it work on my new MBP, without having it save stuff locally to Mail, and with the IMAP syncing features. Not sure when I’ll get to that though.

I've set up one of my GMail accounts on my new machine. I'll see how it goes and report.

So far, it looks like - with only one account, not all of 'em - that GMail is playing like IMAP. I plan to add a couple of other accounts shortly to see how it handles them.
