I don't get it.
Is it something that makes stick its interface to the app?
I mean, ShapeShifter does theme iChat, iPhoto and stuff.
Why not iTunes? It's prolly the app I use the most everyday, I WANTED IT TO BE THEMED TOO!!

um, there are itunes themes. resexcellence has a ton of them. thing is that a themer has to do a stand alone itunes theme, but that is not to say that they dont exist- john tewksbury has had one bundled with his titanium theme for a while now. the NEOS guy has one too.

in fact, you might want to just use the search function in this forum and have a look

i have a feeling there will be more of them now that ss 1.2 supports this (i think...).

Most of the iTunes interface is hard coded so its really hard to theme it. Pretty much everything bar the brushed metal can be changed dramatically

From macthemes.net:

"iTunes style built-in file management is now enabled, and there is support for .theme, for those interested in installing themes designed for 10.1 and before. In other words, users should be extremely happy with this huge update."

I tried this but it will only work with darker metal designs as the color of the gradient is coded.

The edge bevels behave differently too...buttons and all are fully themeable tho.

I'm going to hijack this thread...

This is what the Aluminum Alloy Volcanic iTunes skin looks like:

I think it themes iTunes as much as currently possible.

It is a bitch to theme iTunes though. The button masks are handled in a different than any thing else in ThemePark. For each button there is a separate image that is the mask, and to make it look good, the image has to be "solid color". To accomplish that I copy and paste the same layer on top of itself many times until all the smooth edges because solid and jagged. The mask should have the smooth edges of course. Then the result will look it's best. Also, I found that iTunes appskins increase the file size of a guiKit quite a bit, I'm guessing this is because the PICT resources doesn't use any good compression.

As you can see, the main problem is that the background can't be made any lighter or colored, so I'm hoping that either the next iTunes will use the regular Brushed Metal windows, like iMovie and iPhoto now does. I would think that this is not impossible because that would at least mean that the jagged corner would be smooth, and perhaps that would also give iTunes a speed up, I don't know. Hopefully that is enough reasons for Apple to make that change.
Otherwise I'm giving my hopes to Jason and that he finds a way of hacking/patching iTunes to allow different window shapes and backgrounds. In that case, I'm hoping he could also apply that patch to QuickTime.

More fabulous confectionary from the
sweetie master, too sickly sweet for
grownups - but I bet the kids love it.

will iTunes skins that use SS be available only as an integral part of the guikit or will the .rsrc files be directly available?

Benign, why do you post like that?
The short lines,
almost poetically.
But not. I'm just curious.

I don't think apple is going to make itunes have a non-hard coded interface. I think they're trying to keep the code base between the windows and mac versions as close as possible... in fact, because the scroll bars are hard coded in itunes for windows, I wouldn't be surprised if apple gave us hard coded scrollbars in the mac version as well, like they were way back when, and all those resexcellence skins could make those scroll bars just as hideous as the rest of the app

And why do I get the feeling that almost no one shares my music tastes on this board. I like music where the musicians are talented- from classical music to classic rock to punk to hard rock. Even some folky stuff, and even rap... Whatever, wrong forum... Anyway, I'm doing my part in itunes theming, I'm making an itunes skin for tibook 2, although I'm sidetracked now that themepark got rid of those silly masks... Nothing good enough to share with the public yet, though.

Don't bug benign about his posts,
I personally used to hate them but
I've grown to like them. Let him
have a sense of individuality.

It will be included as an appskin, there will not be any .rsrc files included.

I wasn't meaning to bring up a music taste debate, I do like that song, but it's not one of my favorites. The songs listed are all rated 4 stars.I mostly listen to No Doubt, Outkast, The Sounds, Green Day, Millencolin etc.

But I do think Apple might make iTunes regular Metal, although Frisbee have a point about keeping the Mac and PC versions close.
