Anyone playing this? It is a modern take on the Syndicate games from the nineties, plays like an open world version of the recent Xcom, if that makes sense.

Available for Windows, OS X and Linux, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is an iOS version of this in the future somewhere.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

I've never heard of it, but next in my PC queue is to play the original X-COM (seriously never played it, but bought it during a Steam sale) before moving on to Enemy Unknown.

Did you ever start Satellite Reign?

Sounds promising. I'll see if I remember to watch some gameplay.

I played most of it, but for some reason stopped before I got all the way through. Might go back to it, but we're coming into the season of big AAA games, so it might not happen.

I enjoyed myself, but it got a bit repetitive after a while. You have 4 agents, each with a specialization (soldier, support, hacker & sniper, basically) and have to enter various secure locations and do fetch missions. All of it in realtime, without free pause but with the ability to slow down time temporarily (it's a skill for one of the agents, but one that costs mana). Any agent killed can be resurrected at a cost, so there is a price for failure but you don't have to save and reload. The issue is that any mission can be done multiple ways and in any order, allowing for all the possible loadouts you might pick, which means that you can basically blast your way through most of them. The lack of a free pause is a blessing and a curse, because it means that you might not be able to perform those complex operations - and so they're not required to succeed. I think they could have ramped the difficulty a bit more, required more specialized loadouts, and strengthened some of the non-combat actions (like sniping) so the final missions were more puzzle-like, but it was fun for what it was. So much of gaming is stuck in very tight genres these days, so it's nice when something comes that breaks out of them.

I don't think so, though it looks extremely familiar for some reason.
