This is quite interesting to see.

"Unfortunately for the reader, Mr. Clinton's much awaited new autobiography "My Life" more closely resembles the Atlanta speech, which was so long-winded and tedious that the crowd cheered when he finally reached the words "In closing . . ."
The book, which weighs in at more than 950 pages, is sloppy, self-indulgent and often eye-crossingly dull the sound of one man prattling away, not for the reader, but for himself and some distant recording angel of history."
"Evil is Powerless If the Good are Unafraid." -Ronald Reagan

Apple and Intel, the dawning of a NEW era.

Sounds exactly like what one should expect from Bill Clinton.

From Media Matters:

In her New York Times review of Hillary Rodham Clinton's memoir, Living History, Michiko Kakutani failed to inform readers that the book contained information contending that The New York Times' reporting on the so-called Clinton scandals was false and wrong. Kakutani made similar egregious omissions in her June 20 New York Times review of President Bill Clinton's memoir, My Life.

Unlike The New York Times, Media Matters for America does not yet have a copy of My Life; but we have learned that the former president, in his new book, is critical of The New York Times' coverage of Whitewater -- a fact that Kakutani withheld in her review of My Life, while simultaneously accusing Clinton of lacking candor.

In fact, Bill Clinton is on record in a November 30, 2000, Oval Office interview with The New York Times saying the following about the newspaper: "You guys were wrong about Whitewater. I wish we had the -- that Gertz [sic: Jeff Gerth] piece [on Whitewater] was ridiculous, absurd on its face. I wish we could have had the great New York Times without that."

In her review, Kakutani also falsely accused Clinton of telling "lies" about "real estate." The Whitewater real estate deal was investigated by the Resolution Trust Corporation and no less than three independent counsels with no findings of such purported Clinton "lies" about "real estate."

Chapter Six: Me and Monica

I received a few calls that evening, but I didn't feel like taking them. Business was business, and as president, I had better things to do. Bigger fish to fry. I wanted to do someting important with my life...something desirable. Tonight was the night to do it. I peered under my desk to see that Ms. Lewinsky left me another note.

Billy boy,

Meet me in the closet.
Your wife is out playing bingo.
We have three hours.

Love,
Moni-baby

Immediately, I ran to the closet and threw on some flannel boxers, loose pants, and a small tee shirt. I didn't feel like showering, because it would waste time. I wanted to utilize every minute I could to my advantage while my gorgon of a wife was out and the Secret Service was away for the time being.

I grabbed my stuff and ran down to the second floor, where Monica greeted me in the hallway. I tried to act professional in order to maintain the natural side of me so nobody would notice what I was about to do. I covered my eyes with my hands in order to pretend that nobody could see me. I ran into the closet and sat in the corner. Monica followed me in. It was time.

I ripped off my shirt as if I was the Incredible Hulk, even yelling and groaning like him while doing so. It didn't take much effort to remove the other articles of clothing until I stood stark naked. Monica was having trouble taking her stuff off, so I helped out a bit.

"Am I fat?" she asked.
"Of course not, baby, you're just getting too big for your old clothes."
"That's so sweet."

Finally, he removed all of her clothers off, and...

*TO BE CONTINUED*
"And in other news, Lando Griffin, a popular student at a local high school, was killed last night when his motorcycle careened off Dead Man's Curve. Police were baffled when no body was found at the scene, but they decided it was best not to ask questions and just let everyone get on with their lives."

And that has to be one of the more poorly written reviews I've read in years. Horrible reading.

Not that the Clinton book sounds appealing, but this review was just bad.

The NYT has posted a second review, this one a mostly positive one by Larry "Lonesome Dove" McMurtry, to be published in the Times' Sunday Book Review:

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/06/23/bo...y-clinton.html

By the way, it's not unusual for the NYT to publish two reviews of a prominent book, one first in the news pages, then following up with a second one in the Book Review section on Sunday. It was unusual for the first one to appear on A1, though.
