Miracles can happen, right?

The Pistons are the best beast in the east, and I predict an easy victory over - the smug, the ugly, the smugly Lakers.

It should be a great series for the Pistons if:
1) When Shaq bulldozes a defender, it's an offensive foul.
2) Karl Malone is allowed to play, but his elbows are ejected.
3) Kobe Bryant gets in a catfight with Shaq.
4) Rick Fox cuts his hair.

It should be a great series for the Lakers if:
1) Someone, anyone can stop the Wallace brothers.
2) Rasheed Wallace is ejected. Falling victim to Dr. Jackson's evil scheme of taunting from non-basketball players Fox and Medvedenko.
3) Shaq hits a free throw.
4) Shaq hits another free throw.

Malone is just a big sell-out.

Go Pistons.

I wish Larry Brown receives his first ring.

Shaq is so fat his goatee determines where his face turns into neck.

After tonight's beating, I say Stones in 5, not 6.

The Pistons played a great game. From the Lakers only Shaq and Kobe contributed on the offensive end. Kobe did great defending Hamilton, but the Lakers could not find someone to do the same on Billups.

It should be an interesting game two. Go Lakers!

I correctly predicted the win. Wow! Everyone discounted the Pistons, which makes the victory even sweeter. How curious that the Lakers have four hall-of-famers to be, and only half of them showed up to play.

Karl "Elbows" Malone couldn't stop Rasheed, and Payton had more fouls than assists! Here's to hoping for another great game!

Tampa Bay won the Stanley. If the Pistons win (or, I should say, when the Pistons win), owner Bill Davidson will have a twofer. Has that ever happened in major league sports before?

Pistons in seven. Let's not get cocky.

A complaint in Detroit is that the announcers are SO biased against detroit that LA is losing because they are tired, they are not loose, they are struggling, NOT because Detroit is outplaying them, has talent, etc. It's like LA will win or lose, but not because of anything Detroit did.

Listen at tonights game (assuming the Pistons win or at least are beating them most of the game) and pay attention to what the announcers say.

Go Pistons! Die LA! (This is not in German)

No, it hasn't happened before. Davidson also owns the Detroit Shock, which is the WNBA champion.

Right on, nice to see that I'm not the only one to take notice! Even before the finals, Marv Alberts and Bill Walton have been the worst offenders. You could smell their Lakers cheerleading uniforms from under their suits.

The Pistons will have no problems dismantling the Lakers tonight if the referees are unbiased - remember how the refs orchestrated the Sacramento series last year? The whistling zebras are the only thing that can hold back the Pistons!

I saw a list of multiple-team owners winning championships in the same year, but I can't recall where it was, and there's more than one would think. I do remember that Stan Kroenke, the owner of the Colorado Avalanche and majority owner of the St. Louis Rams, won championships in 2001.

Terrible ending to an otherwise entertaining game. I would have loved to see the Pistons bring the series home up 2 games, but it doesn't look like that will happen.

Everything started out slow, but Billups tore it up in the 3rd and then the 4th just pissed me off .

Yep. The Lakers threw an in-bounds into Shaq. I stood up and was yelling "FOUL HIM FOUL HIM!!!", but no, they don't. The ball gets passed to Kobe, who hangs back a little while they puts up the long 3.

KLJHERLKJBSDKLJHG!!!

Home game tonite should be interesting. I'm going to head out to the bar and watch it with all the rest of the people. Should be entertaining!

Thing is, I haven't found the Lakers to be that dominant. I was as fearful as the next Piston fan regarding the Lakers' mystique, but they are eminently beatable. No one can stop Billups (if Kobe guards him, who'll chase Hamilton and guard him with any length?); Malone is hurting badly (the risk one takes when signing a 40 year-old) and Rasheed (if he can stay out of trouble in the first half) should be able to drop 20+ on him.

Out of the Lakers' bench, Luke Walton is the wildest of cards. It's not his scoring, but his passing that's tough to defend. He knows how to get it to Shaq where Shaq wants it. Luke's assist to Shaq in the OT (where he faked the shot, and floated the perfect alley-oop to Shaq from the corner) was very elegant.

If the Pistons can hold Shaq+Kobe to 50 points or less (achievable but not easy), and the Pistons back court can reach 45+ (easier to accomplish), the Pistons can win every game.

A lot easier said than done.

Of course, tonight, the Pistons will probably lose by 10.

'Stones are up by 16 now... Kobe didn't come to play and Shaq is still fat as hell.

Up by 20 now in the 4th. Bring on Game 4.

Cruel but funny.

The Pistons had a terrible second quarter and are still making the Lakers look bad. I love it. And to think that they could have easily taken Game 2.

Pistons by 20 it is! They've outplayed LA fairly consistently. First playoff game for the Lakers that they were held to under 70.

Oh, that was purty.

Who doesn't like to see LA get slapped around? (plus, I'm from Detroit) Should be up 3-zip if it wasn't for that lucky Kobe shot in Game 2.

The Pistons proved before the finals that they were the team to beat. They play harder. They play better. And they play together... no pouting needed for these champs. It's nice to see that everyone else is recognizing it now, even the so-called basketball experts are joining the bandwagon.

Thus far, the Pacers and Nets were a tougher matchup against Detroit.

There was a fan holding up a great sign in game 3 showing pics of five Detroit players on poker cards along with Shaq & Kobe... "Our full house beats your pair."

On the same subject:
I love how after the Lakers lost in Game 1 that they would come to Game 2 "recharged" and ready to win after the realizing the Pistons could win; then after the Pistons lost Game 2 they come into Game 3 and "need to get over their hangover" in order to beat the Lakers, according to the announcers.

They're so biased .

Go Pistons!

I know that people like to see scoring but I love how the Pistons play defense. It's just pure effort. Not like the kind Riley's Knicks or Heat used to play. They used to beat people up. Detroit just smothers you.

The team that wins is the team that deserves to win. It's really that simple. The winning team is the better team. That's what the finals are all about...determining the best team, the champion. I believe that the Lakers can win it, and I hope they do. The Pistons just seem like creeps...especially with Billups just standing under the basket, waiting for Kobe...like an absolute parasite.

I don't like watching sports, and the Lakers are the only team that I can stand...they make the game so exciting! The Pistons are so lacking drama...they're so damn militaristic.

If the Lakers lose, though, the Pistons are better. I think they'll win, though. You watch.

I'm going to be a freshman at college. I look young, and my picture is from when I was 16 (last year).

Anyway, that's great that you disagree. I could be completely wrong. As I said, I hate sports...I just think the Lakers are fun to watch.
