Meh...$10 is ridiculous for 1GB of space...especially with the limited bandwidth your server will have. Powweb charges, last i checked, $7.77 a month for twice that, plus hosting services.

Hey, have a look at www.dreamhost.com. For $ 7.99 per month (2 years plan) you get 2400 MB space and 250 GB bandwidth. That's enough for gazillion smileys...

Hah, no kidding. Everyone complaining about bandwidth needs to change their hosting company or at least change their plan.

I have DreamHost as well and am very happy with them. Last I checked I get about eleventy billion ™ gigs of bandwidth, which comes in handy when all my site does is host images. Most of those images are hotlinked, and given that I don't have to worry about a few gigs of bandwidth here or there, I don't have go terrorizing the poor souls in this here internet. Everyone wins

Crossspot gives me (though I'm currently not all paid up so my hosting is down for a wee bit haha) 1 gig of storage, unlimited bandwidth (it's never felt slow so I don't care if it's streamed or not) and the usual mySQL, php etc. The only thing I regret is the fact that I can only host one domain and I get no sub domains. Which does suck. But meh I'll live. And I only pay $50 a year, 75 CND.

I've been browsing for hosting lately as well. Opinions on GoDaddy? Least expensive I have found.

Had some not so pleasant customer service experience with them. But in general, I heard they are quite ok...

Dreamhost too. $7.45 a month for 14GB of server space and 60GB off monthly data throughput.

sitedub.com

$3.95 per month 4 GB server space and 200GB of throughput.

I'd rather have the throughput. 4GB isn't bad for $3.95 / month...

Aww, man, I wish I'd heard of DreamHost last week. The company I work at just switched to MediaTemple, but DreamHost has everything they do plus Rails support, PLUS with the sale they have right now, we'd actually be getting way more than we do with MediaTemple.

I knew I shouldn't have looked at this thread, y'all.
