It took a while in the end, stuffing around with .png files and laborious navigation.
but for a first web-site, i am chuffed, and i don't have to force my friend to make it for me now.
suggestions and criticisms are very welcome, if anyone is up for it.

I seem to be missing something...all I see is the navigation dots (which don't tell me anything) and a blank gray square below...

mystery nav. you have to click the dots blindly, then it's very very slow... and there's no explanatory text about the project or the OP's relationship to it. Seems to be about pigeons.

Hot design - im a fan of minimalistic things, however, switching between pages is really really slow and I cant understand why... is the background a big image or something?
if thats not the case try compressing your images a bit more for faster loading. Other than that it looks sexxxxy

Thanks for the comments everyone.
I have made some changes. Navigation mostly.
I've tried to maintain the minimalism though, so it might not make everyone happy, but i think it is a good middle ground.
The slowness is still a problem though. iWeb makes everything into massive .png files. I had to recompress in photoshop's Save For Web thing, as png-8, and re-insert. And as long as i don't adjust the image in iWeb it doesn't re-bloat the file. But it seems that is not enough. I think it is probably all the nav dots and the like being redrawn for every page.
Thanks again, and keep 'em coming if you got 'em.

I like it but not how the labels are inside the white bars on all the pages except for the grey one where they are next to the white bars. Other than that, it's really nice and you have some really nice work.

I think your navigation rocks. One thing though, I wish I could click the names on the bars as well as the dots.
Awesome portfolio work too. Very inspiring

i have discovered that png files placed into iWeb move themselves to a central Images folder, unlike those made within iWeb, which create a duplicate for each instance of the image.
So i have taken every recurring graphic through photoshop and Save for Web-ed them as png-8 and inserted into the iWeb, and copied and pasted them around.
I think it has made a big difference. Folder went from 10.7mb down to 6.6mb.
And i think i've finished with the design now. Thanks for all the input. Very much appreciated.
And anyone who discovers a way of implementing rollovers, let me know.

iWeb only allows png it seems. I initially tried placing a combinations of jpegs and gifs, lovingly optimised through photoshop, but it recreated them as uncompressed pngs. So i have found the only way to have trim images is to insert them as optimised pngs and not to make any adjustments within iWeb.

NICE... you definitely have the eye for it. Very clean which shows on your overall design style. You website matches probably your personality as you can see the same in the pieces you have designed. Great job.
Though, the png stuff... it messes up the experience. Nothing would kill a viewer more than a slow loading site.

What do you guys use primarily to design a website? I am first and formost a print designer and have taught myself web, actually, still teaching myself web. It's kinda tough since there is so much to learn. But, I feel I need to learn web to be a successful designer. Cheers.

very nice site, once you fix the links it should really shine... also the site should tell you why you are there... what do you want your visitors to leave with...
i looks much better and more professional than mine ( www.puffyphotos.com )
