I have a problem with my screen. Suddenly it changes size, and I have to fix it with monitor and sound control panel. But it is only a matter of time before it changes again.:-( Any suggestion what is wrong?
I have iMac rev B.

I'm not sure but, does the lithium battery in the iMac (if its dead)
have anything to do with it not remembering the settings?

Well, before you do that go check the Apple Tech info library and look it up.Other than that
you would have to open up your iMac to get to the battery. Like I said before I'm not sure
if this is the answer to your problem. Maybe you need to zap the pram but if you do this it
will delete all the system preferences so, it depends if you are adventurous. You would have
to redo the settings but it's not a big ordeal. This is how you do it... when starting up the
computer hold down the Apple command, option, and P and R until you hear the startup
sound and keep holding down till you hear about two or three startup sounds then release
and reset the monitor settings and see if that works.

A good way to know if the battery is dead is to switch off your iMac for a while and look if date and hours are correct. As the internal clock is running on the battery, if you get wrong figures like year 1904, then you can be sure that the battery is dead.

Do you mean the resolution changes or the geometry setting changes? If the latter check out the thread started by dragonlance called: iMac Monitor Geometry Setting.

After reading the tread I will try this "when starting up the computer hold down the Apple command, option, and P and R until you hear the startup sound and keep holding down till you hear about two or three startup sounds then release.." when I get home from work. I will try doing this with a "cold" start. Will let you know how it went.(Monday)
