I have already taken the dive into a full-blown Mac household, however, I have not been able to find nice multi-track recording software. Prior to going full-bore OSX, I used Cool Edit Pro on my Pee Cee, and I was hoping that a kind soul might be able to point in the direction of a comparible program for OSX.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

BIAS makes several pro audio packages for OS X. I haven't used any personally, so I can't vouch for how good they are. You can check their website:

The programs are decent (Deck is what you'd want), but Bias itself is a pain. Order straight from the company and you still have to contact them with proof of purchase within a few days of installing your software. Then you have to wait for them to get back to you with a second registration code if you want to keep using the software THAT YOU PAID FOR past a week or so. I made the mistake of ordering the OS 9 version of Peak LE with Deck LE (or maybe it was SE) when they promised a free upgrade path to OS X when it was available. I signed up for it and waited. They announced the OS X version and I waited. And I waited. And I finally sent them an email. They asked me to send them proof that I bought the software during the right time (when they offered the free path). I found the receipt (from them) and sent it to them. A month later I got my Peak LE. But apparently Deck LE (which also had been carbonized) wasn't included in the deal. I wasn't too thrilled with the OS X version of the Peak--and I used Deck more anyway. It's probably a lot better now (it's been about seven months since the carbonized versions came out).

I'd advise you wait until the heavyweights are carbonized. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Logic and the others ready and able in OS X by the end of the year. Problem is that hardware running in OS X natively is also hard to find. But check out Reason from Propellerhead. The OS X version might be shipping by now.
