I guess i've never really had problems with my Powerbook.
But hey, last week my iPod died, and then my car broke down...so I guess it's only appropriate.
Anyway, I have a 1.67 G4 PB, supposedly 1.5gb RAM. Well, I know it had 1.5gb RAM, I installed it myself. I have the 512mb that came standard, and a 1gb I got from Newegg. I noticed today while I was cleaning up files that "About This Mac" only showed 1gb of RAM!!
So I went and found this:
Power On Self-Test:
Last Run: 11/11/06 12:22 AM
Result: Failed
Failure type: Memory
Memory slot: SODIMM0/J25LOWER
Now what? I have Applecare, just don't know what to do. Will they just send me new RAM? Ughhh I'd hate to go without my PB for days for something so trivial.

Hmmm..thanks I checked that out. However, my serial # isn't within that range, I didn't get this laptop until June 2005.
Is it safe to turn the computer off and switch the RAM chips around to see what happens?
Hahah and I guess I didn't mean to post twice, the first post had slipped my mind when I saw that power-on self test.

Argh, no! You were right. It IS lower slot failure.
It's okay though, I just got my laptop set up for an all-expenses paid vacation to sunny sunny Cupertino.

Exact same problem. Mine was recently purchased duff 1 gig stick of Ultra RAM. I've also heard that 512 and a gig sometimes don't play well together. Going for a Crucial 1 gig stick tomorrow...
