My father has a weird problem when he wants to send emails.
Mail always states that the email addresses are not valid...and this only happens with known email addresses (reply or auto-complete)!
Sending emails works without problems when he enters an address that has never been used before (he never received email from those addresses before or never did send an email to an address like this before)!
For example:
I usually used my yahoo address to send him emails and he used to send me emails to this address ( [email protected]) and this doesn't work anymore.
Yesterday I told him to try [email protected] and this worked without problems and still works even though mail now knows this address...
All "old" email addresses don't!
Any ideas?
(I already told him to remove my yahoo address from Mail Menu 'Window' -> 'Previous Receipts' but this didn't help and Mail still auto-completes the address!?)

So...You're trying to send and receive Yahoo mail using Apple's Mail.app?
Yahoo does not allow POP mail access on a standard free Yahoo account. You have to purchase their Yahoo Mail Plus product in order to use a third-party app like Mail. Perhaps this is what is causing your problems?

I've never seen it before.
When Mail autofills addresses, does it fill in names with those little blue ovals like its getting them from address book? Have you inspected the addresses with the ovals to make sure they are correct?
I can't think what else might be happening here. If its an IMAP account, I'd suggest deleting the account, trashing the Mail prefs and starting over.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Could he have address book entries with names but partial email addresses? I'd check there.
Some sort of dns cache problem? Try flushing.
Quit mail and delete its application cache. ~/Library/Caches/

No, my dad is trying to send and receive Google mail using Apple's Mail.app and this used to work without problems...now it only works with unknown new email adresses and not the ones that he already used to send and receive email to and from!
Btw., I use Apple's Mail.app to send and receive Yahoo mail and this works quite well...and I don't have Yahoo Plus or whatever that is!

It's not an address book problem since it doesn't matter if my dad writes the complete email address or uses the one that mail suggests with auto-complete! Even simply hitting the reply button doesn't work!
I'll suggest the DNS cache thing to him...

Create a test account and see if the same issue occurs. If it doesn't, make sure all of his mail in on the IMAP servers and just recreate the account in Mail.

Maybe try rebuilding the Mail cache/database? That often helps to solve a lot of strange Mail issues.
