Try typing this in the terminal:

defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-floater -bool true; killall Dock

Voila, there's your little expos blob! Click to do within app expos, option click to do global expos, drag it around to your pleasure.

Now, let's get to work theming this! (Image files are located in the Dock resource folder, under the names "wvousfloat.png" and "wvousfloatselected.png".

defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-showcorners -bool true; killall Dock

That shows visible indicators of assigned sleep and expos corners.

defaults write com.apple.dock wvous-olddesktop -bool false; killall Dock

That enables a cool alternate hide to desktop expos where the active apps shrink to a little mini pager window.

I haven't tried modding this yet myself, but from mac os x hints discussion, it appears completely moddable. (Any size image, png I guess).
