according to cnn ONLY 1000 jobs were created in the whole of the u.s. of a. last month.

i think they were at burgerking and walmart.

at this rate if you are out of work it would take 200 years for your time to come up!

ps: also the unemployment rate is really around 10% because many have given up looking for work.

hey but look on the bright side maybe you'll be on mars.

Just enough jobs to fit in a new miniPod!

Even as a new jobs number, it seems low, but remember, I think you have to factor in old jobs that have been available intermittently, as they probably make up the majority of the market.

Interestingly, according to this Forbes' Article , Wall Street was expecting about 130,000 new jobs after the 8.2% growth in the 3rd quarter. The fact that GDP growth has risen so sharply yet there still isn't job creation implies that huge increases in productivity are the only explanation.

In other words ... not only is it hard to find a job, if you have one you are likely to be busting tail harder and harder to keep it.

The drop in unemployment is because they cut a bunch of people from the rolls of who they consider to be seeking a job.

130,000 That's a little optimistic. But perhaps the jobs growth will pick up in the next quarter. It's really the long term that matters here. I could imagine retail stores not hiring during the holiday season to maximize profits. Keep your chin up.

In other news, Canada posted 53,100 new jobs, twice what was predicted. Making it 271,000 total jobs made during 2003. Not bad despite the SARS scare, the north american blackout , that unfortunate case of BSE and the US putting tarifs on our softwood lumber. Imagine what we could do without all those annoying hiccups.

So does this mean we have to elect Bush for another 4 years so he can prove to us his tax cut is working?
