This should have been combined with the pics of yourself thread and the perfect partner thread.

That would have been made for some interesting discussion.

lol. You should start another poll calverson : how long before I get banned ?

I'll give you a year. I'm surprised that you didn't have "hot air balloons" in the title though.

I think that if I asked how often people they had sex in hot air balloons, I would not have a very resounding response. In fact, I can pretty much already predict the results.

It is only besson3c that I am not sure about...

Only got active in the last few months or so. Joined to ask something about my old MacBook Pro, then came back to ask another question, clicked on the lounge out of interest.

And the rest is history.

You're all way too sex obsessed.

We need some good lounge topics that aren't related to getting some.

"You're all"? One person started this thread, and every response has been "Calverson, you're an idiot." I don't see how this convicts us.

Errr... Out of the 50 or so topics that I counted, 4 were directly related to "getting some".

That is a mere 8%.

You think this was largely unnecessary?

To answer your question, she's probably home recovering from her chemo. Thanks for asking.

I never been laid and I'm still a virgin. . . it's no big deal. . .

But hey, what the big deal about getting laid?

Is it that important?

I don't think much about it and I don't see why other guys would get worked up about it. . .

There are other bigger worries like finding oneself, pursuing a career one want love or starting and maintaining meaningful friendships. . . but hey, that's just my opinion. . .

Not nearly enough. I’d say “very sporadically” is a pretty good description.

I wonder, though, if the fact that the winning option right now is the virgin option means that MacNN is full of pranksters, or that MacNN is really full of virgins (for whatever reasons).

It's the winning option among all the choices but it is NOT the wining option when you compare the choices for those who have never had sex (virgins) to those who have had sex but with varying degrees of frequency (the other eight options). Only 23% of the respondents have never had sex while the remaining 77% have had sex but with variable degrees of frequency of sexual intercourse.

In other words, to answer the question, "How often do you get laid?" 23% of the respondents said never but the remaining 77% said sometimes.
One should never stop striving for clarity of thought and precision of expression.

Snide remarks aside, yes. With “(for whatever reasons)”, I was not trying to be funny or sarcastic; I’m sure there are people here who have very good reasons for being virgins, whether it’s due to their age, religious choices, or whatever. Sure, there are probably also cases of the stereotypic geek who never managed to have a first time and now obsesses about it in the Hot Babes thread.

And that doesn’t strike you as odd? If you ask a hundred random people on the street, I doubt you’d get 23% virgins. There aren’t that many ten-year-old posters here (ryanxb is the only one I can think of, and even he must be about 14 or 15 now). And despite what the PolWar Lounge might suggest, I don’t think there are that many really religious people here, either—the number of people here who have chosen to abstain until marriage must, all things considered, be rather small.

And yet, if the poll is to be believed, one in four MacNN members (who have voted) is a virgin. That seems odd to me.

Maybe people who have got laid don't really consider it important enough to vote for in a poll?

It's like having a poll that says "Do you have a driver's licence" really.

Would people who haven’t got a driver’s licence be more likely to vote to that effect than people who do have one? I dunno, it just seems neither is any more of a bother than the other …

Might one inquire as to the reason (not for being the first to vote Virgin, but for staying Virgin)? Considering that you have a girlfriend (with whom you travel the world, i.e., not just a casual short-term relationship) and look like a young Paw Henriksen, I’m assuming it’s a conscious decision. Religious reasons (waiting until marriage, for instance)? Other reasons (waiting until ‘the right age’, for instance)?

Yeah. People who are preoccupied with it (virgins, hormonal teens, people who can't get laid), are more likely to feel strongly enough about it to vote, whilst others really just don't care.

But also, I would think, less likely to admit that they’re virgins, especially in a poll like this.

Your basic question omits specific, very important factors. Is quantity more important than quality? What about the balance of the two? Very frequently may also imply, shall we say a certain "dysfunction" which reduces the actual interaction time...

There's also the issue of whether or not a person really gets anything out of a short term (or very short term) relationship beyond hormonal relief. My experience is that a strong relationship adds immeasurably to the quality of intimacy of all types, especially intercourse. So it strikes me that a one-night-stand would be about as fulfilling as self-gratification, and considering other personal factors, not worth my time.

I looked for white text in your post indicating your questions was a joke and didn't see any. I don't think you want to go messing around with Lone Star. That could be trouble.

It's there. But you may not be happy about who it's actually about...

I change toothbrushes every 3 months. I change AC filters every 2 months. I do a lot of things every semester (like prove I have health insurance). But...

I have a very satisfying relationship with my wife of almost 30 years (how that could be I don't know, because I still feel like a newlywed), and every 3-6 months would be a major understatement. But since I'm not 22 anymore, I don't seem to need any "man points" for boasting about how often we are intimate. Which is the whole point of my previous post.

I hang out with quite a number of people a lot younger than I am. I can handle it. And since they're almost all young women, I can tell you that I've had a LOT worse. And if needed, I can dish it right back out.
