I don't disagree with what Geldof is doing: Geldof can petition through concerts all he pleases. (whether or not I agree with what he's proposing as solutions is a different matter.) I wasn't even talking about who Geldof hangs out with.

Jacques Chirac is an ass. No denying it.

But the French are good at making food... even if they get credit for foods they did not invent. (not sure, but I thought french toast was made by the Belgians?) Kind of funny, there was a dessert competition recently, and the American team won... on the American team were two Frenchmen who are American citezens. Forgot who the third guy was. (3 people = 1 team) heh Just though that was kinda funny.

Im not sure, but I think it was condi who said it: "Forgive the Germans, Ingore the Russians, and Punish the French." hah. I just though that was genius. I mean, the way I see it, the Germans and the Russians truly disagree with what America is doing because they have a different ideology. But the French (well, not so much the French, but Chirac himself) seem to disagree with America out of self interest. Like they lose out on deals & sh!t if we go into iraq. oh well.

Meeting with people doesn't mean you condone what they are doing. How else do you resolve problems if you refuse to meet with peopele?

When Mandela "hung" with Gadaffi, the first thing he told him was that he needed to turn from terrorism. Mandela initiated the discussions with Gadaffi that got Libya to renounce terrorism and lead to the destruction of her Weapons of Mass Destruction.

As for Arafat, I don't think the global consensus is that Arafat is an evil man. He won a nobel peace prize you might recall. I don't expect an Israeli to see this though. Mandela didn't keep company with Arafat any more than any other leader of the Western world. Mandela met with Arafat in an effort to resolve the Palestinian issue, to bring about peace.

Ignoring these people and not meeting with them is far worse IMHO. Prolonging the problem by refusing to deal with certain people is irresponsible and as Mandela and other showed, tackling the issues head on can be much more efficient at resolving the issue.

When I lived in the arctic, we used to have a reindeer p[er year in our freezer. That meat was smooth: you cut a steak with a fork!

As "nikkuk" or dried meat (in Inuttitut), it is fabulous!

Turkish cuisine isn't a copy of Greek cuisine. Both cultures mutually developed their foods, and dare I say it, Greek cuisine owes more to the Turks than the other way round. Being occupied by a foreign power for 500 years is bound to influence the way one eats!

The British do a mean curry - thats traditional British food now.

Well, it depends where you eat. My grandparents, who are Greek, are vegetarian. And so most of the Greek food I have is vegetarian.

If you spend your time eating feta cheese, smothered with olive oil and filo-pastry, I guess you could say Greek food is heavy.
