I've just sold my old Dual 500 G4 tower, and have a few hundrew bucks to toss around now. I'm curious if the Apple Credit line is really worth it. "Get your order for $40 a month.." says the Apple Store under the G5 tower listing. I can easily swing at least 40 a month, but $1800 or more at once I can't do. It says I'd have 90 days same as cash, so that's a decent amount of time. I could probably do $200 a month or so. Maybe more, considering I could actually run Final Cut and Motion at nice speeds and get some real work done.

So...if I can't drop 2 grand in one shot, is Apple's credit worth it? If so, are there any requirements? I'm just a college student, but I've got a nice paying name-my-own-hours part time job at a DVD duplication/recording studio that will help me cover the cost over a few months. TIA

Yeah, so you don't end up paying boatloads of interest...money that would be better spent on, say, RAM

I agree it is best to pay more than the minimum payment. It helps to avoid some of the high interest charges.

You could try putting money away each month, then buy the computer without a loan. Took me two years, but I did it.

Is there anyway to see how much of a loan/credit you can get before actually going through and "purchasing" an item from the Apple Store on-line? That seems a little odd...

-----------

How to Apply
"Applying for the Apple Credit Account is quick and easy. Apply at checkout by selecting "Apple Credit Account" as your method of payment. After verifying your billing and shipping information, select "Place my order" at the bottom of the page. You'll be routed to the application for your new Apple Credit Account."
