I have no complaints, but I know that some people will have things to whine about, so I've made a thread for it. Do you dislike the buttons? Do you hate teh quick reply feature? Is your favourite site Thalo?

apparently the theme is temporary, so no real need to have a hissy.

Whoa . . .

That's a whole lotta white space I'm seeing. Is the spacing supposed to be that extreme? Looks like triple-spacing to me. Seems like an inefficient use of space. I hope it's temporary.

only thing that sticks out for me is that every post has a blue header, before it was blue then gray etc etc - i think

I like the quick reply box.

But comon, can't we make the text size by default smaller? Like it was before?

Quick reply is cool, yes. But the font and text size seems fine. I just think this looks...more...amateur...or something.

Quoted for emphasis.

Also, two of the smilies seem to have turned gay:

Is this also temporary or are they all heading that way? I like the oldskool MacNN smilies!

Other than these little things: well done guys. Good stuff.

Ooh. I'm not sure about the new design. It looks a little loose to me. A few too many outlined boxes, which makes it harder to concentrate on the content of each post (information designer in me coming out). The blue bars above each post in particular is distracting.

But - as I always tell clients - users don't generally like change, so it may be that may perception is coloured by the fact that this is new...

I would have to agree. Something needs to change here, everything is too big and brightly colored. I do like quick reply though.

I don't like the font on the main forum page, at least on Windows/IE. I haven't looked at it on a Mac yet.

I found it. It was a drop-down option. I was looking for a checkbox.

Either way, this should be off by default.

I realize this is a temporary, hacked-together theme. But still; the old appearance was much more space-efficient and the text was easier to read. While designing the new theme, bear in mind (please) that there wasn't much wrong with the old one.

Thanks for your hard work!

Search page can not be opened in a separate tab or window like before with right mouse button, or Apple + click. Same goes with the advanced search link that drops down. Makes it a pain when you want to keep the window in front of you open without having to go back to it after a search.

No, it can't. You have to use the control key as where the Apple key worked before but does not now. I do not want to remap my mouse buttons just for MacNN.

Remember folks this particular appearance is temporary. Also note that a lot of users (me included) asked for a more readable default font size. Yes, there are a lot of space-eating items on the page, and a lot of white space that isn't necessary, but I hope we keep some of it because it makes for easier reading of all of the jewels posted here.

Since the thread began, the stars have been restored, and I think the smilies have been refreshed too.

I want to have fun with the current appearance and feel out all of the new ways to do things, but I am NOT planning to get really used to any of it until the final appearance is implemented.

Feedback is good!

Crap. When you "quick replay", it doesn't take you back to your post so can see if someone snuck-in a comment while you were posting yours. You have to scroll ALL THE WAY BACK DOWN!!

I would like it a lot better if the fonts were smaller. Especially the thread listing font (the actual link you click to open a thread)
