They (at least, the 15" varieties) were "within 24 hours" the first week or so, then "3-5 days", but now they've hit "7-10 days" as of today.

Seems like these babies are really popular!

I ordered my 17 inch MBP on June 30th, it shipped on the 5th, and it currently is in transit (Tennessee) last signed in (tracked) on the Fedex website. What is odd is that the last sign in tells me that it was delivered out from Tennessee but it hasn't arrived at any other location (this on Friday, the 6th).

Should I be worried? I live in Alberta (Canada).

I think it's peculiar that it took so long to start shipping, since the current 17" has had <24h shipping times since its release, but I don't think you should be worried about the transit time. Customs at the border can take sometimes take time to process.

OTOH I noticed that it now stays 7-10 days if you chose the 7200rpm BTO option (at least on the 15" model here in Europe)

I assume CN is China. Why in heck are we buying crap made in China? They are a communist country. We ought to be buying stuff that is made only in free countries.

Macs have been coming from China for several years. And why do we do it? Because everybody else does it. Why does everybody do it? Because it's dirt cheap. Politics, ethics, etc. all goes straight out the window as soon as people realize they can have other people build their stuff for 2¢ an hour.

I am loving it! It hasn't been heating up that much, but when I woke up today it was at 84 with just web browsing and FTP downloading... so I am giving it a rest. Other than that, there are no problems with it, I am VERY happy, and it's an amazing machine.

My previous model was a crappy Dell Latitude (School requirement) D600.

Thanks

How quickly do you reckon Apple will be able to resolve this? I want to be ordering my MBP in about a month, and then will need it within a week?! Do you reckon that is possible?

I would certainly HOPE that they have this resolved in a month.

That said, if you need it asap, don't order the 160gb 7200 rpm drive.

I'm still anxiously waiting for my stock configuration MacBook Pro 2.4GHz too. The order was placed by Apple on Jul 16 to replace my MacBook Pro that turned out to be a lemon. I had to send my MBP back to them before they would place the order for the replacement, so it's been a bit inconvenient not having a laptop. Currently says "Ships by: Jul 25 - Jul 30"

Girlfriends has apparently shipped. So, a little more than a month? Wow..
Then again, it said 4-6 weeks, so I'm not really blaming Apple at all, it's just a surprise to me. After 2002, seems like waiting more than a week for something ordered online is just weird...

Mine finally shipped too, although the Fedex scan doesn't show a departure yet, just the initial scan when Fedex is expecting the shipment. I ordered a stock configuration, but the service type says "IP Direct Distribution" which usually means it's coming from China. Hopefully that means I'll have the new smaller power adapter.

I'm finally in the "Prepared for shipment" phase! Looks like they charged the $15 shipping charge to my card, but that's all so far. It hasn't actually posted yet, so we'll see. Here's hoping it ships SOON, since I am headed to the UK next week!

Aww man! I'm jealous! According to FedEx.com, mine arrived in Anchorage about 2:30 PM on the 31st, then got "Int'l shipment release" in Indianapolis on the 1st at 1:30 AM, and nothing since.

I'm hoping it just didn't get scanned on its way in or out....I can't imagine it was released in Indianapolis, but was still sitting in Alaska!

klb5090" When did your's get Intl shipment release? I think our's shipped the same day.

My new MBP must have been on the same plane as well. It left Indianapolis a couple hours later and is scheduled to arrive tomorrow before 10:30AM. I can't wait! It's a replacement for my lemon first-generation MBP.

Well, leave it to FedEx to make me upset! It sat in Anchorage for a day! Then to Indy, then back to LA.
And of course, they tried to deliver it today (day early), and I was at the office! They tried to deliver it at 8:54 AM. And the building where I live opens the office at 9 AM!

So I'll swing by the FedEx station to get it tonight.

I can't believe it still isn't resolved, I'm getting anxious.

I'm going to be ordering mine in 2 weeks, do you think it might be resolved by then, because once I order it, I need it in 8 days maximum. God. This is going to be complicated.

It's unlikely to be resolved by then.

Word is that the supply of LED-lit LCDs is in low supply, which is causing the production delays. Seems that all the MBPs are being shipped to the buyers directly from manufacturing in China fresh off the line.

I personally put my order in three weeks early (it's on its way now!) to make sure I had it by a certain date. 10 business days (2 weeks) for lead time, and 3-5 business days for shipping (since it's coming from China).

I recommend putting your order in now too, unless funds are the problem.

Ay, that's the issue, otherwise I would.

Very annoying.

I'll have to wait it out I guess, and if I can't then I may as well wait until leopard, although, I'm not sure.

I think I'm going to have to wait and see. Thanks for your opinion.
