I assume that varies from individual to individual. The cat of mine featured in the thread loves the dog. He goes up to her for tongue baths.

My other cat hates the dog enough she'll hiss at her from across the room.

Yeah, he loves my girl's papillon, tries to bathe her and plays with her all the time. The leonbergers act scared of him, despite being nearly 6x his size and he'll growl and hiss at them if they get too close. They'd have zero chance of catching him, though, he can run well over 40mph with an 8' vertical leap (and can hear a mouse fart at 1000m).

My cat is crapping in the neighbour's driveway. People have suggested pepper powder, vinegar and even used filter coffee. Nothing has worked so far. Any ideas?

Our driveway is exactly the same, and he doesn't crap there. I like my neighbours - good people with a 4 year old that I don't want getting ill because he's touched our cat's turds.

Pet stores here sell a gel that cats hate for the sole purpose of getting them to avoid certain areas. To us, it smells vaguely like lemon, so won't bother your neighbours.

Just a thought...

It's so easy to train a cat to use a litter box, you may be able to train it to poop somewhere else.

Perhaps your cat doesn't like the next door 4 yr old? You cat is doing it for a reason.

Got a name? I'll try and find the equivalent product here and look at ingredients.

Cheap pepper didn't work, I may look at cheap lemon juice.

are you using black pepper, or cayenne powder? I use cayenne on the flowerbeds, it seems to discourage the wild beasts in the neighborhood.

Think that it was black pepper, but I'll look into cayenne pepper. Does it take much?

I use a lot, get the big cannisters from the dollar store. Keep in mind also that if their 4yr old wanders thru the cayenne pepper barefoot they will also not be happy campers. Also keep in mind to be upwind so it doesn't backfire on you. (unpleasant)

Meet Mulder

Mulder is an 11wk old black male kitten we scooped up this past Saturday. This is the first experience I've had introducing a kitten to a settled-in cat but Scully is pretty much the most docile and adorable cat I've ever seen so I didn't think much of it.

Scully being skeptical of Mulder (as usual)

After the initial day and a half of growling/hissing/batting (not much else) Scully has more or less accepted his presence. If anything a playful kitten is bringing out her kitten side again and they both take turns stalking and chasing eachother. He has a separate litter tray and food/water, although it seems both cats are more interested in stealing from the other, but there hasn't been any aggression on Scully's part when he is eating her food or drinking her water.

All in all a pretty straightforward, and adorable, addition to the family.

Edit: Also, black cats are hard to photograph.

Shoot them against darker backgrounds to limit dynamic range. You could also dim the lighting for a similar effect.

I'd have tapped him on the nose or something, but testicle removal for a keyboard cable ....

Finally got a decent shot of Mulder, who is now a fairly large animal.

He just happened to sit with some natural light across his face, causing a fairly stark shadow. No flash needed, just caught him in the right light for once.

Well, they are bigger...

CitiKitty Cat Toilet Training Kit - OFFICIAL SITE: Save Over $2,000 on kitty litter, no mess, no cleaning, no litter box!

If you ignore the cat it will love you. Cats misunderstand eye contact as threatening, so if you avoid their eye contact or don't care, they will think that you are safe. If you want the cat to hate you and stay away from you, look at it all the time.

Also don't declaw. Those things are like a cat's more useful version of a foreskin.

We might be getting a caracal, a 16 wk old male, hand-raised since he was 1 wk old. He was rejected by his mother, something that appears to be fairly common with larger caracal litters (>4). I'm curious how Ramses, our mostly serval "throwpillow", will react, but he's as calm as they get, so it should be fine (plus they won't be kept together).

We have a Caracal now, we named her Nefertari. She's quite a handful (and will probably end up being many handfuls).
