I'm gifting my sister for Christmas with my old 9600/350 which has 8.1 running on it.

How would I upgrade to 8.6 or 9.1?
Is that upgradeable - or can I purchase it somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

I know I've seen those systems advertised somewhere. Check the back of MacAddict or Macworld. I'm pretty sure I saw some 8.5 and 9.0 disks for sales at some shop...

You first must purchase OS 8.5, then you can download the free update to it, which is called OS 8.6 from the Apple site. Apple does not make OS 8.5 available through a download.

You may find it elsewhere to purchase. Try an online 'auction' site like ebay or check with some of the following places as they've had OS 8.5 or the full retail version of OS 8.6 for sale in the past.

I have a full copy of 8.5 and the upgrade 8.6. I am looking for 9.0 and I have the full 9.1. upgrade. I will trade for the full shelf copy not the imac version of 9.0, if you like. Also I have an ftp server to use.

Has anyone ever thought of checking on ebay. There are plenty of folks that have wrapped versions of 8.5, some of them with an automatic install of 8.6 bumping around.
