Hi all,
I could kick myself. I'm not one to fiddle with my system too much (OS X 10.2.8), but it appears I have done harm tonight. While trying to set up FTP access, I foolishly changed ownership on the hard drive (using get info, apply to all folders) and I also might have changed something on the Users folder permissions. Now it won't boot at all, but stops at the blue screen. It gives me no login choices. I am able to boot into OS9, so I tried deleting the com.apple.loginwindow.plist and com.apple.windowserver.plist files in the /Library/Preferences folder. Still no change when trying to reboot. I spent a little time in single user mode, but it wouldn't let me do the above functions because the volume was "read only"
I'm in over my head in this, but I really don't want to re-install Jaguar. Any help would be much appreciated.
Dave
