I have been using OS X for a while now and it is not displaying a bunch of pictures on certain objects. For example, in Adium it does not display the other users icon, instead it shows a "?" in a blue box. My friend was also using Mac OS X with the exact settings on Adium and it displayed the users icon. This also happen in emails, websites... Does anybody know what I could be missing? I have Flip 4 Mac installed.

Can you take some screen shots of some of the instances and post them?

The question mark in a lego block icon indicates you are missing or have disabled a plug-in. If you go to System Preferences>Quicktime>Advanced, is the Enable Flash option selected. If not, does selecting it help?

Um. Oddly enough, when trying to view DivX files, you need to have the DivX internet plug-in installed

N.B. There is a 420 pixel width limit for images posted at the forums (unless the thread title specifically states that large images are in the thread) - if you don't resize the image, one of the moderators will remove it.

I do. Most videos from, y'know, "unofficial sources" are in DivX format.

Personally, no. But it does allow you to play many .avi files in Quicktime as well.

Awesome!!! So do you need the DiVx convertet? Or is it just a a waste of space if you are not going to convert videos? Obviously you need the DiVx media player.

You just need the QuickTime plugin, and then any QuickTime-compatible program (QuickTime Player, Safari, etc.) should be able to play the file.

Okay so I downloaded Perian, enabled flash on Quicktime and I still have this

Please stick to the image posting guidelines, people! - OreoCookie

maybe I did not install Perian correctly. I dragged the Perian Component into the Quicktime folder that apperared next to it. Is that all I have to do?

p.s. it weird that it does not display the icon because it has the picture on the message on the top left "the bird."

On the DIVX page, DIVX actually has a special plugin they use to play DIVX web content. The Adium issue is probably unrelated. So update to the latest Adium and delete the Adium cache, because it's getting the image, but not displaying it in your chat window, but it is in your toolbar (upper left). You may also want to try another message style to see if it's a problem with your current one. Are there any other applications affected? If not, this is an Adium problem, not a system problem.

It appears to be an Adium issue. How do I empty the Adium cache? I can use Onyx to empty the CPU cache but if there is an easier way please let me know.

I dont know if you've tried this, but in Adium, go to Preferences>Messages>and make sure user icons box is checked. That theme is wierd, because if its not checked off, it gives that blue box with a quesiton mark that you seem to have.

Yes I tried that. It appears to be the message style.
