Hi,
I admin a B/ W G3 w/ OS X Server 1.2v3 with Macintosh Management services for a local community college. The AppleFileServer process keeps crashing and locking up the whole system, forcing a reboot every 2 hours under moderate load. Anyone experienced similar problems? Also, if anyone is running 1.2v3, could you email me the AppleFileServer binary to [email protected], as I would like to replace it and see if it corrects any problems. I really want to avoid a re-install as the machine is supporting 2 labs and about 200 users. Any assistance at all would be a god sent. Thanks for your help.

There are some known, serious problems that can affect Mac OS X Server 1.2 when serving AFS. You might use the search function for this forum and check the Apple support forums under the server products as well. A quick fix is to rebuild the desktop DB files of all filesystems being served via AFS. This issue is a major drag - anyone know if this problem still occurs with the newer releases of the Server product?
