I have found out that our OS X Server is auto negotiating; however, I want to FORCE it over to 100 full duplex...any ideas? I am pretty sure it's command line driven.

Thanks for any help!

I have searched and searched for an answer to this question but have never found a solution. Everyone says that it should be an option through ifconfig, but I have never been able to get anything to work.

ifconfig tells me my current configuration, but I have no idea as to what options can be done from there at all.

Just keep in mind that if you're on a hub it's impossible to do full duplex, anyway. You'll need a switch or a direct computer to computer connection.

Why can't you go full duplex when using a hub? I did a networking course at uni last year and I don't recall being told that.

For full duplex, a station needs to be able to transmit and receive at the
same time. This is not possible in a hub. Being a shared medium, at any
given interval only one station on a hub can either transmit or receive. If
two stations try to transmit at a given interval, it is a collision.

Tanenbaum's Computer Networks covers this in some detail (pg 282-286) if
you are interested.

I also had a look around and it appears that you can use the ifconfig en0 media xxx or whatever your interface is called only when the driver supports doing so. It would appear that the OS X driver for my interface does not support it since it returned the error: ifconfig: SIOCSIFMEDIA: Operation not supported

So I guess you're out of luck for now.
