Well I'm about to order an 80 gig hard drive for my iBook. I've heard some stories about upgrading and that it's a royal pain in the ass. I was thinking of going to a local shop and paying them to do it, just so if something goes wrong they could be held responsible. However, I can't seem to find any places that will do this without buying the hardware from them. Does anyone know where I could find a local (DC Metro area) Authorized Mac Repair center that would do this?

Or, if necessary, how about a place that describes in detail how to take apart the iBook?

Thanks.

All glory to the hypnotoad.

Upgrading the harddrive in your white iBook should not be too hard a task, AFAIK. I was looking for instructions on how to replace the drive in the old clamshell iBooks and I read that these are much harder to do than the white ones. and hey, I managed to do it with the old one, so you'll probably be fine doing it!

Try to look for instructions on these boards, they should have links to illustrated how-to's. (I'd supply a link but right now I only get errors when searching the forums.)
