Is anyone who is monitoring this page experiencing big delays with getting their new iBook?
I ordered my iBook 600 with upgraded 30GB Hard drive on Dec 27th. After that they said it would ship in "three days".

On Dec 31st I received and email stating that due to unforseen parts shortages, they would ship in an additional "5 business days".

Then on the day of the keynote (the 7th) I got an email stating Apple had released new hardware and I needed to choose between a 12.1" or a 14/1" iBook. I called the same day and told the operator I still wanted my original order - 600MHz 12.1" 30GB iBook. And then she stated "7 days to ship".

That afternoon on the Apple site it showed my order as "being assembled".

It is now eight days later (15th), and yesterday, my order status on the Apple page went BACKWARDS from "2.Being Assembled" to "1.Being Reviewed". Due to my location and some other factors, it is very dificult for me to call during their business hours, and I was wondering if anyone else was in the same boat, but able to talk to a human at Apple.

Let me know, and thanks!

a saving grace is that they are still giving me the Dec $100.00 off, and the Jan base price, so I get the 30GB iBook for $1499.00 But that doesn't make me feel any better after two weeks with no computer (sold the last one)

Yes, I'm in a similar fix although I have not waited as long as you. I simply ordered the 600mhz model with some extra ram and airport card. It was supposed to ship in 5 days (ordered on the 7th.) Got the "sorry but we are experiencing unforseen delay" email last night. When I called the apple store, the person there told me that it actually has been built and is waiting to be picked up by Fedex. The OrderStatus screen, however, says it is still being assembled. I WANT MY iBook NOW!! There, I feel better.

Anyway, you might want to call 1-800-MY-APPLE and talk to a real person. They are really very nice and quite helpful. I felt better when she said it was already built. I just wish the screen would tell me it had shipped!
