Canon has launched a collection of new cameras at CES, with five more imaging devices entering the PowerShot range. A pair of super-zoom PowerShot SX cameras, the 20.3-megapixel SX540HS and the 20-megapixel SX420 IS, are joined by a trio of compact snappers in the PowerShot ELPH product line: the 20.2-megapixel PowerShot ELPH 360 HS, the 20-megapixel ELPH 190 IS, and the 20-megapixel ELPH 180.
Following on from the SX530 HS, the
SX540 HS boasts a DIGIC 6 image processor that is said to provide "stunning low-light performance," as well as a 50x optical zoom lens and optical image stabilization. Capable of recording 1080p video at 60fps, it has a dedicated movie button, a zoom framing assist function, and a Story Highlights mode that automatically compiles images into a highlight reel. On the back is a three-inch 461K-dot LCD screen, and it also has Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity for easier sharing of shots.

The slightly lower resolution
SX410 IS has a 42x optical zoom and image stabilizer, and though it uses the older DIGIC 4+ image processor, it still can capture 720p video and offers various scene modes, such as a toy camera effect and fisheye. Connecting to smartphones over Wi-Fi and NFC with a dedicated Wi-Fi button, it has a rear 230K-dot 3-inch display, and an Eco mode to prolong the battery life.

In the compact cameras, the
PowerShot ELPH 360 HS uses a CMOS sensor with the DIGIC 4+ image processor, and is equipped with a 12x optical zoom with optical image stabilization and 1080p video capture capabilities. The Story Highlights mode reappears here, as well as a Hybrid Auto feature that records brief video clips before each still that can be added to the highlight reel. Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity and a rear three-inch LCD screen are also included.

The
ELPH 190 IS offers a 10x optical zoom with OIS, but with a CCD sensor instead of CMOS. Video is capturable at 720P and shareable over Wi-Fi and NFC, and it also has assorted scene modes and the Eco battery-saving mode. The
ELPH 180 is a similar device, but with an 8x optical zoom and it loses the optical image stabilization.
