Amidst all the turmoil of .mac, you know what the best thing of all is?
That stupid little warez kiddies will no longer be able to easily use iDisk it to pirate Apple's software and illegally disribute trade-secret Mac OS X material, screenshots, and the like, using Apple's own services and servers against itself.
Good riddance.
(Note: as discussed a bit elsewhere, for what it's worth, the MWSF 2000 keynote (<a href="http://web.archive.org/web/http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwsf00/" target="_blank">http://web.archive.org/web/http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/mwsf00/</a>) or associated press release (<a href="http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2000/jan/05wrapper.html" target="_blank">http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2000/jan/05wrapper.html</a>) makes no reference to iTools or mac.com email being "free for life".)

Seriously. The uproar when Apple nuked iTools accounts that hosted the 10.0.1 update prior to its release was hilarious.

My best thing? that you can let peple upload to your public folder.
I'm on a 56k modem a lot of the time, so if someone with cable wants to send me a large file it's not at all feasable - expecially as i get cut off every 2 hours - so now they can just upload it to my iDisk and then i can use iGetter or something to download the file over my 56k over night.

I free'd my mind... now it won't come back.

I'm not sure if you are implying that children are more likely to pirate than adults, but this is a stereotype and it isn't true. (And no, I'm not a child.)

They are not cutting off your account. YOU may be choosing to cut off your account, Apple is not.

And piracy is far from the reason Apple is charging for .mac. But they're not cutting you off. You're cutting yourself off, because apparently you're too cheap to pay $4.17/month. [1]
