How many times have you actually clicked on a google ad on someone's web page? Today for the first time in my life I clicked on one of the google ads on someone's page. I was researching photography stuff and noticed there was all these google ads dividing up the page that I was hop scotching around. I came to a realization that I naturally just pass up and avoid ads unconsciously. They just have this look of cheapness; perhaps at one time pre 1999 I used to get tricked into clicking ad links from one company or another only to not find what I was looking for, and hence built up a tolerance to ads of all kinds. So I decided to click one today just for kicks...

I can't be the only one; is anyone else like this? Then again I hear google ads make a lot of money so people must be clicking them left and right.

Its pretty rare. I even tend to ignore the promoted links at the top of Google results 99.9999% of the time.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I don't think that sites make a lot of money from having Google ads. Google makes a lot of money from having them though, but not because of an expectation of clickthroughs.

99% of the ads advertise stuff I don't need, so I decided to click on none of them.

I only get my product promotions through reviews and word of mouth, not counting Facebook, since they put word in my friends mouths all the time.

Never. Frankly, I think I might be immune to advertisting.

Since today was the Superbowl, I can't think of a time where a Superbowl ad made me want to buy a product either. I think ads probably pretty good for "brand recognition," but not for specific product sales.

As a publisher, CTR on adsense is about 0.2%, or 2 clicks per thousand impressions.

Everyone thinks they are immune to advertising... and yet companies keep buying advertising.

That said, I do wonder about online advertising. I mean, I guess it must work, but I only click on about one ad a year (on purpose). Most people I talk to are in the same boat.

I've never purposefully clicked on a google ad and I usually make a conscious effort not to click on the promoted links either.

I clicked once by accident, and now I am walking around with a constant erection.

A few times all accidents. I think I clicked on one ad once because it was something of interest.
