Following the earlier announcement that Apple, again working exclusively through American Express, had debuted Apple Pay in its sixth country with its arrival in Singapore on Tuesday, the website for Apple's US financial partners that offer credit or debit cards that work with the company's mobile wallet technology has added another 61 members, two weeks after it topped 1,153 US institutions. The update allows customers of the banks or credit unions listed below to begin adding their cards to the Wallet application on the iPhone 6 or later, as well as the Apple Watch and new iPhone SE.

Apple Pay is widely supported by all the principle banks and credit unions in the US, the UK, and China, and through its partnership with American Express offers support for Amex-badged credit and debit cards in Canada, Australia, and now Singapore. Amex plans to expand support to Hong Kong and Spain later this year. Apple's total number of US financial institutions supporting Apple Pay is now at least 1,214 (not including two "loyalty card" issuers, BJ's Wholesale and Kohl's).

According to Apple's own partner page for US institutions supporting Apple Pay, new banks now supporting the adding of its cards to the iPhone Wallet app or Apple Watch for use with Apple Pay includes Access Federal Credit Union, Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union, Audubon Savings Bank, Bank of Stockton, Barrington Bank & Trust Company NA, Beverly Bank & Trust Company NA, Champlain National Bank, Community Trust Bank, Connected Credit Union, Country Club Bank, and Crystal Lake Bank & Trust Company NA.

Also added were Englewood Bank & Trust, Financial Horizons Credit Union, Financial Plus Credit Union, First & Farmers National Bank, First Enterprise Bank, First Metro Bank, First National Bank of Chadron, First State Bank, First State Bank of Porter, FirstCapital Bank of Texas NA, Frontier Community Credit Union, General Electric Credit Union, Georgia's Own Credit Union, Greenville Federal Credit Union, Hinsdale Bank & Trust Company, Jefferson Bank of Florida, Journey Federal Credit Union, and Kentucky Employees Credit Union.

In addition, Lake Forest Bank & Trust Company, Libertyville Bank & Trust Company, Metropolitan Bank, Midwest Bank, Mutual Security Credit Union, National JACL Credit Union, North Iowa Community Credit Union, Ohio HealthCare Federal Credit Union, Old Plank Trail Community Bank N.A., Orange County's Credit Union, Otis Federal Credit Union, Pacific Postal Credit Union, Picatinny Federal Credit Union, PNC/BNY Mellon-Fidelity, PrimeTrust Financial Federal Credit Union, Queensborough National Bank & Trust Company, Robins Financial Credit Union were added.

Finally, Schaumburg Bank & Trust Company NA, SouthWest Bank, St. Charles Bank & Trust Company, State Bank of Cross Plains, State Bank of the Lakes, Stock Yards Bank & Trust, Town Bank, Union Savings Bank, Union State Bank of Fargo, United Bank of Michigan, University Credit Union, the University of Wisconsin, Village Bank & Trust, Wheaton Bank & Trust Company, and Wintrust Bank also joined the list.

The number of US merchants accepting Apple Pay is likely to increase dramatically this year as more merchants adopt "contactless" and mobile-compatible point-of-sale terminals in order to support the new "chip and PIN" bank cards; a number of major US chains have also announced they are rolling out support, and Apple recently revealed that 89 percent of users with compatible iPhones use Touch ID as the default method of unlocking the device, meaning that millions of US consumers are comfortable with the technology that powers Apple Pay.
