The port is labeled A/V AUX. I think jokell might be on to something.

That new XBOX is the ugliest game system I have ever seen as it looks like a 16 year old boy designed it. All that is missing is some internal glowing blue lights to really make all that cheap plastic shine. Even the first Xbox had more appeal which is saying a lot. Are we sure the power source is now internal? I still have my doubts.

Natal looks cool though, the camera hardware looks really deep though.

What is up with the new name though? Sony is gonna be pissed.

OMG that's so pathetic but I think it is a bit smaller thankfully. Lets hope it no longer has its own fan.

I knew it would be external as the new Xbox still has that giant AC plug in the back.

I still can't believe how ugly this thing is. Shows typical MS was trying to copy the original PS3 piano black and chrome but by the time they released it sony had moved to matte. They also use a touch sensitive power button, again after Sony stopped using it (and apple long ago too).

Just look a the design and phyical quality between these 2. Keep in mind the Sony has a BR drive, slot loading and internal power source.

Wow, they took the title of the best one, and the car from its sequel. And its Criterion. I'm pretty damn close to sold.

XB360 design looks hideous.

-I'm not a fan of glossy black.
-Whats with that power brick ?.
-Why are they still using trays for the optical media ? i mean really, it's 2010 already.
-Is it really that expensive to hire some good industrial designers.

Also, i dont expect Natal/Kinet(i cant decide which name i hate more) to be a success by any measure (market-share/profit). It costs too much, and is too 'casual' inclined on a 'core' system (oxymoron-ish).

Some points:

The Kinect demo didn't impress me at all. The technology itself it impressive, but the END PRODUCT is complete crap.

First off, you've been able to chat with people over Xbox Live for years now. Why all of a sudden did they make it look like this was something new? It's not.

Voice chat - everyone here knows that the Mac has had this for FIFTEEN YEARS. Again, nothing new. Also, have you ever talked to your computer? You feel like a moron.

Typical MS taking something old and making it look like they invented it.

Kinect itself:

I go to the gym every day. They demo these things saying how great they are and how easy it is. REALLY? Get some pasty white nerds in a room doing aerobics and tell me how easy it really is. It's not. Even a low impact workout can be stressful on someone who never goes outside.

The running in place looked stupid, and will be a BIG FAIL in apartments.

The lightsaber demo was fake, and obvious.

And here's the one major problem with Kinect: NO FEEDBACK. You can't tell if you're doing anything right. The lightsaber demo is a perfect example. You're locked in battle with Darth Vader, but how do you gauge how hard you're pushing against him? What's preventing you from backing off and whacking him in the head?

Meh. Not impressed.

Tuesday News: morning Edition

Let's Play A Game: How Many Copies Of Modern Warfare 2 Have Been Sold?
Publishers Activision disclosed tonight at an E3 party that Modern Warfare 2, released on PC, 360 and PS3, has now sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
Impressive, multi-platform or not.

Xbox 360 Drops Price On Tuesday Morning
The Xbox 360 Arcade is dropping from $199.99 to $149.99 at Target. The Elite will drop from $299.99 to $249.99.

Obviously these drops are being done to clear the way for the now-shipping new model of the Xbox 360, which will sell for $299. The new black 360 will sell at the price that used to reserved for the Elite.
So... the Arcade is being eliminated completely? If so, that's kinda big news, as that makes the Wii the cheapest console again, and gives the PS3 a nice little angle in the value department itself.

My best theory? A price-drop of $50 in the fall and the Kinect bundle debuts at $100 over that. Otherwise, MS in nuts.

GoldenEye 64 Wii-make revealed, see Craig's Bond in action | Joystiq
Earlier today, IGN posted a trailer for the oft-rumored remake of the classic Nintendo 64 shooter, GoldenEye. (You've probably heard of it. You very probably spent many of your youthful nights playing it until you fell asleep.) The game is being ported exclusively to the Wii, and has received a fairly noticeable facelift during its transformation. That is to say, a figurative facelift (it's prettier!) and a literal facelift, as Pierce Brosnan has transmogrified into current Bond actor, Daniel Craig.
Ugh. This, too, leaves many questions unanswered. Doesn't Rare, now owned by MS, have at least partial rights to this game? Is Brosnan being replaced related to rights as well?

The writers must be overwhelmed from E3, because they're not even asking, let alone answering some pretty obvious questions on some of these articles.

Xbox 360 Arcade to eventually be replaced by $199 new Xbox 360; data transfer cable will be $20 -- Engadget
GameSpot reports a slim Xbox 360 Arcade successor will appear after the now-discontinued SKUs sell out for the same $200 as before.
I love how engadget has this and Joystiq doesn't. I have a feeling Joystiq is cripplingly undermanned to deal with an E3 event.

I'm about to fall asleep watching the Nintendo Conference.

Looks like a generic Bond they used instead of Brosnan from the trailer. They added 8 of the classic badguys, though.

So, the 3DS only has one touch screen. Does this affect its backwards compatibility? They mention something about it being compatible with the DSi.

Edit: "Woah, this is starting to get a little trippy. A huge Bowser comes out of the screen and ignites a screaming Reggie with flame."

I'd pay to see that.

He also stated that it had improved graphics. Didn't they make that bold claim the graphics were on par with the XB360 and PS3? After seeing Kid Icarus someone should be shot and drug under a bus.

BTW that new 360 Slim only has 2.4GHz Wifi N. Sucks.
Gets uglier to me every time I look at it to. Touch buttons and tray loading is so 2000.

This "turn off your wireless devices" is going to be the new keynote trend.

I mean Bluetooth and Wifi both use 2.4GHz along with most cordless phones. The amount of BT and Wifi signals in one normal house alone can be crazy considering the Wii/PS3 controllers are bluetooth also.

Perhaps companies (including apple) should put 5.4GHz wifi in their products to avoid the common problem.

I think it was so mind-blowingly bad I dismissed it without it registering that it was so over the top.

Didn't Sony make equally ridiculous claims when the PSP came out?

Joystiq is pretty terrible with timeliness. On most of the breaking stuff they lag 6 - 12 hours behind kotaku, and even end up using kotaku as a occasionally.

Depends, sometimes Joystiq will beat Kotaku and they'll use each other. The most I found any of them to be off of each other was a couple of hours (this was 6 months ago), and I figured I didn't need to be THAT up to speed on video games.

I'm pretty skeptical that they took an already-prone-to-overheating 360 and made it slightly smaller. Not to mention it actually looks worse than the 360 (which is already a little garish) and original Xbox.
