OK, here we go....I've got windows 2003 server working fine, my mac (10.2.6) can see and share files over smb and afp. But, does anyone now of a way of getting around the 32 character limit as part of 'services for macintosh'?

I save my files with names well below that but when I copy things such as mp3s, iphoto libraries and software they often have long file names tucked away. I'm using afp by preference as it avoids windows problems with text using things like [ ? * e.t.c, now all I need to solve is long file names.

Do you not find that you still have that disappearing file thing with AFP services?

It was there in Win2K - have they fixed it?

Hmmm, don't know is the answer. I've not seen that problem, but for more/better info have a look at www.macwindows.com, they had an article about this ( I think!).

I hope I don't get that issue!

Anyone able to help with my 32 character Q?
