It might but to be sure you need PC4200 not PC2700. The 200pin configuration is correct and the 333MHz is right. I seem to remember that you can put superior ram in inferior machine i.e. PC4200 in place of PC2700 but not vise versa. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

If the 17" PB has a 166mhz bus like my ibook g4, that memory will work great. if the 17" PB has a 200mhz bus, you need at least pc3200. pc3200 would work in either case as mgehman said.

The last two posters are on the right track, but not quite there.

Do you have the first 1.67GHz 17" PB Apple released or the second 1.67Ghz 17" PB Apple released? The former uses PC2700, the latter uses PC2-4200, and no, you cannot "play it safe" with PC2-4200, since DDR2 will not work in the former.

I have a new PB 1.67 1GIG that I purchased from MacMall last week. They installed an extra 512mb ram chip. I had to pull the chip last night due to getting a kernal panic everytime I started up. It is a 512mb PC2-4200 PC2-4 (DDR2). I think it is a faulty chip and not the wrong kind so yes a DDR-2 is right for the later model PB's (I think after Oct 2005)

Can I use a 1gb stick of MBP memory (PC2-5300 DDR2) ram in my 15" 1.67 DL PB (last version) with the intention of swapping it to a MBP at some time in the future? TIA.

I think it depends on when the PB 1.67 was manufactured as to what kind of Ram you need. On those PB's made after Oct 2005 you need DDR2 SODIMM (200 pin). Earlier PB 1.67 did not take the DDR2. I just ordered a PC24200 MPMECC 200 pin DDR2 SODIMM. I think the post is right about putting the superior ram in the inferior machine to be correct. Just make sure you know where you use DDR2 or not.

I received my new 512 Edge Ram chip today from MacMall for a 15" PB G4 1.67 manufactured in Oct 05. It was PC2-4200 DDR2 200 pin SODIMM. Works great. Earlier made 1.67's do not take the DDR2. Check your system profier>memory and see what you have in there now.
