Is there a way to open and external hard drive in safe mode or something simillar? My backup drive wont mount and i really need to get some of the files off it. I've run it through disk utility and it says it needs to be repiared. I click repiar and after about a min it says that it cannot be repaired. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

Do you have DiscWarrior or Drive Genius you could run on it before you open it up?
