Hi,
I'm about to get a refurbished tibook for my girlfriend off Ebay (she's always loved the design). I was just wondering if the issues with paint flaking off and breaking hinges still plagued the later ones? Just because I heard they sorted it in the later revisions?

It's guaranteed for a month and there's 3500 +ve feedbacks with similar purchases, and only 6 negative in 5 years, so I think it's a decent guy - he's been very quick at replying too. I've specifically asked about the hinges and the fact that it's refurbished. He said that he replaced the display as it had been smashed, and the hinges are perfect - he said he's sold to a lot of apple users and knows "that they are very particular."

It's the 1Ghz, 1gb ram, 60GB HD, 64mb graphics version, and from the pictures it's in perfect condition. Does $600 sound too much?

Cheers, Ian

As far as I am concern, $600 is way too much for a antique no matter how much it cost when new, you will serve her better by getter a new MacBook for your gf imo.
Do not settle for the world in shades of grey

Searching recently completed eBay auctions, there is a range of prices:

Item #
120054765886 -----> $475
270058614492 -----> $850
190052907399 -----> $570
190053001946 -----> $510
(search eBay for the item # if you want to compare them)

So $600 is a bit high, but maybe in line, if the TiBook is really in great condition. But even a late model TiBook without current issues is rather old and may be prone to breakdown.

More practical in a similar price range would be a used or refurb G4 ibook or, if you can up the $$$ ante a bit, a used Aluminum PowerBook.
