Rapper Lil' Kim's jury selected

The federal jury selected yesterday to hear the case of rapper Lil' Kim and her personal assistant will get to see one of the diva's videos and read her liner notes, a prosecutor said.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Cathy Seibel told U.S. District Judge Gerald Lynch in Manhattan that the video will show that Lil' Kim was friends with two men whom she denied knowing when testifying before a federal grand jury.
Opening arguments in the trial of Lil' Kim and Monique Dopwell are scheduled for this morning, more than four years after a shooting erupted outside Hot 97 radio station on Feb. 25, 2001.
Lil' Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, is charged with perjury, obstructing justice and making false statements in order to derail a federal grand jury probe into the shooting. Dopwell is charged with conspiring with her, as well as with perjury and obstruction.
Prosecutors say Lil' Kim lied in three grand jury appearances, saying one of the men, Damion Butler, was not at the radio station at the time of the shooting.
She also denied knowing the other, Suif Jackson, prosecutors said. If convicted of all charges, Lil' Kim faces up to 45 years in prison.
